On March 21, 2023, in the building of the US State Department, the Embassy of Turkmenistan, together with the diplomatic missions of the Central Asian countries, Turkey and Azerbaijan, organized a solemn event dedicated to the international holiday of Novruz. At the event, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Rebecca Zimmerman and Deputy Assistant Administrator of the USAID Anjali Kaur delivered congratulatory speeches on behalf of the US Government. On behalf of the organizers of this event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the United States Meret Orazov thanked American government and all participants for joining the event.
The Novruz celebration was attended by representatives of US government agencies, Congress, research institutes, business circles, as well as diplomats from other embassies in the US. During the festive event, musical and dance groups from the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan performed national dances and songs. During the festive event, national folk art items, crafts and souvenirs introducing the history and culture of region were exhibited for the guests. The participants were also treated to traditional dishes and sweets of the host countries of the Novruz holiday.
