On March 27, 2023, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the French Republic and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO M.Chariev met with the Assistant Director-general of the Africa Department and External Relations of UNESCO Firmin Edouard Matoko.
During the meeting the parties discussed a number of specific projects and initiativies that can be implemented within the framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the near future.
At the same time, the qualitative level of fruitful partnership in the fields of education, culture, science and tehnology was noted.
F.E.Matoko expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for participation in numerous projects organized by UNESCO.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the new modern city of Arkadag, which received a special legal status - a city of national importance, developed in accordance with the highest standards of modern architecture and urban planning.
It was noted that in the city Arkadag, which will operate on the basis of the concept of “smart city”, advanced digital technologies are being introduced.
The Ambassador stressed that the city is built with the most modern technologies and environmental requirements, and that it is an innovative project, which has all chances to become one of the leaders in the development of urban infrastructure.
Assistant Director-general of the Africa Department and External Relations of UNESCO praised the achievements of Turkmenistan in the construction of the new city of Arkadag based on the relevant UNESCO mandates, including the concept of sustainable development, as well as the use of innovative and environmentally friendly technologies.
