On August 31, 2023, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium, in cooperation with the “Diplomatic World” Institute, presented an exhibition "Cultural Treasures of Turkmenistan". This event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan, the European Union and Belgium, and the 32nd anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of the institutions of the European Union, including the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, members of the European Parliament, heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Brussels, as well as various European institutions.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the presentation of ancient Turkmen jewelry from the collection of the Belgian historian and professor at the Vrije University of Brussels Dr. Jan de Maere.
The exhibition also featured Turkmen carpets, traditional musical instruments such as the dutar, gyjak and deprek, national costumes.
As the participants of the exhibition noted, this event will contribute to further development of cultural and humanitarian ties, both in the context of the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belgium, as well as in the framework of effective cooperation between our country and the European Union.
