On October 19-20, 2023 in Geneva, the delegation of Turkmenistan under the leadership of the Minister of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan A.Germanov took part in the regional conference “Population and Development: Ensuring Rights and Choice”, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and United Nations Population Fund (UNPF).
During the conference, the UNECE regional report, representing a five-year periodic review, was presented. Based on this report and previous periodic reviews, the achievements, effective strategies and programs developed by countries in this direction were highlighted.
During the speech of the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan, the consistent implementation of state programs in the field of population and the country’s achievements in the field of health care, improving the quality of services in the field of reproductive health, including through the purchase of high-quality medicines and equipment, as well as the significance of the work carried out in December 2022, was highlighted year of the population and housing census, which is necessary in the planning and monitoring processes.
On October 20, as part of the visit, a meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the Deputy Executive Director of the UNFPA, Diena Keith, was also held, during which the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and outlined priorities for the near future.
