On 9 January, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held a meeting with Ms. Elena Panova, appointed to the post of UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative and UNFPA Representative in Turkmenistan.
Congratulating Ms. Panova with the beginning of work in Turkmenistan, the Turkmen side noted that one of the main directions of foreign policy of Neutral Turkmenistan is the expansion of cooperation with international organizations. In this regard, the sides emphasized the role of the country's strategic partnership with the United Nations, after which they exchanged views on further cooperation in the areas of security, development and humanitarian dimension. Speaking of trustful and mutually beneficial relations, representatives of the parties with satisfaction noted active and multi-level political and diplomatic dialogue, which is held on a regular basis.
During the meeting, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Ms. Panova presented copies of his credentials. Noting the commitment to further cooperation, Ms. Panova said that as the authorized representative of the UN in Turkmenistan intends to make every effort to strengthen relations between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.
