On January 25, 2017 the regular thirteenth meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation had been held in Ashgabat, which was attended by the heads and representatives of state structures of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, including representatives of the leading ministries and agencies of the two countries.
The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekistan Temir Yullari" Mr. Achilbay Zhumaniyazovich Ramatov.
The agenda of the forum was on a wide range of issues including various areas of bilateral cooperation.
The sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached at the end of the twelfth session of the Commission, held on 26-27 September, 2016 in Tashkent. The sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of regular meetings at various levels, to continue to deepen mutually beneficial relationship. The committee members discussed and outlined a number of steps to diversify cooperation in priority areas, including the energy sector, transport and communications, agriculture, environment, education, culture and sports.
At the end of the thirteenth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission final protocol was signed. Also, the parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the commission in 2018 in Uzbekistan.
