On April 22, 2020, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in the form of a video conference with the Director General of the World Organization for Animal Health, Ms. Monika Elua.
On the Turkmen side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the chairman of the State Association “Türkmenatlary”, the deputy minister of foreign affairs, and the rector of S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the exchange of scientific information in this area, improving the legislative framework and resources of the veterinary service.
The parties considered the clauses of the Agreement adopted in 2016 between the Government of Turkmenistan and the World Organization for Animal Health on cooperation in creating a zone free of horse disease and providing technical assistance for the development of horse breeding. The role of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection was also noted.
