On May 1, 2017, there was a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Abdrakhmanov who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the 6th Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Dialogue "CA + Japan".
During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations within the framework of agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries. As it was stressed, thanks to the political will of the leadership of the two countries, the interaction between the countries reached a qualitatively new level, which allowed to intensify bilateral ties in a wide range of areas. Noting the dynamic nature of cooperation between the two countries, the sides expressed their commitment to further development of the relations between the foreign ministries of the two countries through holding joint meetings on a regular basis.
A range of issues related to the strengthening of bilateral political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties was also considered. The sides also exchanged views on further development of regional cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The parties expressed their opinion on the need to expand cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and sports.
