On May 16, 2024, within the framework of the 10th meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the member countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) in Ashgabat, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Rashid Meredov with the Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Türkiye for UNESCO Öcal Oguz.
During the conversation, the parties noted the fruitful cooperation established between the countries within the framework of TURKSOY and UNESCO, in particular in the context of submitting common nominations to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and other UNESCO programs.
The sides noted that the inclusion of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the poet Magtymguly Fragi in 2024-2025 in the UNESCO List of Significant Dates is a clear confirmation of the recognition of the work of the great Turkmen classical poet and thinker in the context of cultural and humanitarian international cooperation and its influence on the formation of the world cultural heritage.
