On October 18, 2017, the International Conference "Peace, Stability and International Cooperation in the Caspian Region" was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the State Enterprise for Caspian Sea Issues under the President of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by the representatives of various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan - Foreign Affairs, Defense, Finance and economy, State sea and river transport services, the Border guard service, the Fisheries committee, the Academy of Sciences, Hydrometeorology committee, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the competent representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan , The Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
Speakers at the conference, noting the role of the Caspian Basin in the development of energy, transport and communication spheres, underlined Turkmenistan's commitment to the development of constructive interaction between the Caspian states. Delegations outlined the positions of their states on the issues facing the Caspian states, related to their economic and environmental activities, possible ways of solving these problems, the establishment of scientific marine centers and the development of a national marine strategy.
