On November 15, 2017, at the Yıldız Hotel, within the framework of the VII Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov had a meeting with the delegation led by the Minister of Road and Urban Construction of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Ahmed Akhundi.
Within the framework of the talks, the sides also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, while special attention was paid to the issues of interaction in transport and logistics sectors. In connection with this the parties underlined the role of holding the regular meetings of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. The sides voiced the necessity of broadening the regional transport networks and have put forward a number of proposals for their further development.
The subject of a thorough exchange of views was the opportunities for building an effective partnership in the energy sector. It was stressed that the parties have accumulated significant experience of mutually beneficial exchanges in all areas of interaction, including between state and public structures and business circles of the two countries.
In conclusion, the parties expressed mutual interest in expanding the bilateral partnership aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.
