On December 4, 2017, political consultations between the representatives of the foreign policy departments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Austria have been held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The delegation of guests was led by the head of the Department of Eastern and Southern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia of the Ministry for European Affairs, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria Katarina Vizier.
During the political consultations, issues of bilateral relations in the spheres of politics, economy, energy and transport, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN and the EU were discussed. There was also an exchange of views on a number of regional issues and aspects of international security, among which were the questions of countering international challenges, disarmament in the region. It was noted that the parties were interested in developing inter-parliamentarian cooperation.
In addition, the sides touched upon the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, giving priority to expanding cooperation in the fields of culture, art, health protection and education.
Stressing the importance of continuing the established dialogue that meets mutual interests for further diversification of fruitful cooperation, the parties agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in 2018 in Vienna.
