Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy
On 14 April 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Turkmenistan Martin Brook, who presented copies of his credentials.
The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to the responsible post and wished him success in his diplomatic mission aimed at further developing Turkmen-Italian cooperation.
The Ambassador, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen friendly relations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Italy.
During the meeting, the sides confirmed the steady development of bilateral relations and noted the importance of regular contacts at the high and highest levels in strengthening mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries. In this regard, the importance of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic in October 2025 was noted.
The sides reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Italian cooperation in the trade-economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The positive experience of cooperation at international platforms, primarily within the framework of the United Nations, was underscored.
In the context of developing interstate cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the significance of the archaeological exhibition “Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan,” held in Rome last year, was noted.
The sides also spoke in favor of continuing the practice of holding business forums with the participation of leading business circles of the two countries.
