On January 15, 2018, the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member states began its work in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran. Delegation from Turkmenistan headed by the Chairman of the Mejlis A.Nurberdiyeva arrived in Tehran to attend the conference.
In the afternoon, the meeting of the delegation of Turkmenistan with the speaker of the Majlis of Iran Ali Larijani was held in the building of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iranian Majlis speaker expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for accepting the invitation and sending a representative delegation of the Turkmen parliament to Tehran.
In the course of the meeting, the sides, noting the dynamics of successfully developing Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, spoke in favor of intensifying inter-parliamentary relations and further enhancing interaction between parliamentarians of the two countries. Among the priority areas of cooperation the sides marked mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership and the development of fruitful humanitarian contacts between the two friendly countries.
On January 16, the opening of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member Countries was held. The conference was attended by 16 speakers of parliaments, 14 vice-speakers and several parliamentary delegations from different Islamic countries. Following the results of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States, a statement was adopted.
