Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland Accredited in Turkmenistan

On June 10, 2026, on the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova received the credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Turkmenistan, Maria Agren.

On behalf of the Head of State, the Speaker of the national parliament congratulated the diplomat on her appointment to this responsible position and wished her success in strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.

Expressing her gratitude for the warm welcome extended to her in Turkmenistan, Ambassador Agren conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov from the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb.

During the meeting, the diplomat was briefed on the main directions of Turkmenistan’s domestic policy, as well as its foreign policy strategy.

It was emphasized that independent and permanently neutral Turkmenistan attaches special importance to expanding mutually beneficial dialogue with all interested partners. The Ambassador was also informed in detail about the structure of the Mejlis and its multifaceted activities aimed at improving national legislation.

The discussion continued with a comprehensive exchange of views on a wide range of issues concerning Turkmen-Finnish relations, including cooperation in multilateral formats, primarily within the framework of the United Nations and other authoritative international organizations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Turkmenistan, Maria Agren, assured that she would make every effort to further strengthen bilateral cooperation based on mutual trust and respect.
