The Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria presented copies of credentials

On 29 July 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara) Boumediene Guennad, who presented the copies of credentials. 

M.Byashimova congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to the important diplomatic post and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side’s to provide assistance and support in the performance of his diplomatic duties.

In the course of the talks, the parties discussed opportunities for developing bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Particular emphasis was made on the necessity of regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as the importance of organizing contacts at high and the highest levels.

The diplomats expressed their support for establishing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening the legal-contractual framework of cooperation between the two states.

The sides expressed commitment to continue constructive partnership within regional and international organizations, primarily the UN, to promote universal peace, stability and sustainable development.

The opportunities for developing trade-economic ties were explored during the meeting.  In this regard, the parties agreed to take part in international exhibitions and business forums held in both Ashgabat and Algiers.  Agriculture and the textile industry were highlighted as potential areas of cooperation.

In addition, the diplomats noted the need to expand cultural and humanitarian ties. The interest of establishing contacts between the ministries of culture and education, as well as between higher education institutions in both countries, was emphasized.  Opportunities for educational programmes, as well as cooperation in the fields of sport and tourism, were also discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening of Turkmen-Algerian ties across all areas of mutual interest.
