Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS Held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”

On 7 October 2026, the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of the CIS member states, as well as the Secretary General of the CIS.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of the international and regional agenda, as well as on the main areas of cooperation within the CIS framework.

Particular attention was paid to further developing multifaceted cooperation among the CIS member states, strengthening foreign policy coordination and improving mechanisms of interaction.

In view of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS in 2026, the participants considered topical issues of the Commonwealth’s activities and reviewed the preliminary results of the organization’s work during the current year. Particular attention was also paid to the significance of the 35th anniversary of the CIS, celebrated in 2026.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the development of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, tourism, physical culture and sports, youth affairs, as well as other matters of mutual interest.

The participants reaffirmed their interest in continuing constructive dialogue and consistently developing mutually beneficial cooperation among the CIS member states.

Following the meeting, a signing ceremony was held for a number of documents aimed at further developing and strengthening cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Among the documents signed were the Protocol Decision on the holding of the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS, the Decision on declaring 2029 the Year of Transport Connectivity of the Commonwealth in the CIS, adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan, the Decision on the draft Plan of Measures for the organization and preparation of the Year of Legal Literacy in the CIS in 2027, as well as the Decision on the Plan for Multilevel Political Consultations among the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the CIS member states.
