Meeting Held Between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Director of the European Training Foundation

On 12 October 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Bäşimowa met with Pilvi Torsti, Director of the European Training Foundation, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the fifth meeting of the High-Level Group of the DARYA programme, scheduled for 13–14 October 2026.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in education and vocational training, with particular attention to modernising the vocational education system, promoting practice-oriented learning, and training qualified specialists in line with labour market needs.

The importance of the regional DARYA programme, aimed at developing young people’s skills and improving the quality of vocational education in Central Asia, was highlighted.

The sides also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in the context of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, including the development of transport connectivity and the strengthening of regional ties.

Following the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their interest in continuing constructive dialogue on areas of mutual interest.
