On October 20, 2016 the 38th session of the Intergovernmental Council of the Road workers of the CIS (ICR CIS) in collaboration with the International Association of Trade unions of the workers of transport and road infrastructure had been held in Ashgabat.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the ministries of transport and road organizations of CIS member countries, representatives of international and regional organizations such as the CIS Executive Committee, International Association of Trade unions of workers of transport and road facilities, Union of the auto transport workers of Russia, as well as experts and specialists in the field of road sector.
The following questions were discussed within the agenda of the meeting: the status and prospects of development of transport complex of Turkmenistan; on the role of transport and transit corridors in ensuring international cooperation for sustainable development; on the implementation of the Protocol to the CIS international road traffic and their development at the entrances to the borders of neighboring countries; on health and safety in the road sector; and the introduction of new technologies, materials, machines and laboratories in the road sector.
During the exchange of views, participants demonstrated a common strategic vision and a common approach to solving the problems of road sector of the Commonwealth states. At the end of the session the protocol of the 38th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the CIS road workers has been signed.
