On August 3, 2016 the delegation of Turkmenistan with the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the head, arrived to Washington on a working visit to participate in the "C5 + 1" ministerial meeting.
During the ministerial meeting, participants discussed the issues of further cooperation within the format of "C5 + 1" in such areas as regional security, environmental protection, cooperation in the political, economic, transport and humanitarian fields.
In the afternoon, the US Chamber of Commerce hosted a business roundtable on the topic "Implementation of development opportunities in Central Asia" dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of Central Asian countries.
During the visit to Washington, the Turkmen delegation met with the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal, the Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the U.S. Department of State Amos J. Hochstein, the United States Deputy Secretary of State Antony John Blinken, and executive director of the "Turkmenistan – USA" Business Council Eric Stewart.
In the course of the above meetings, the sides discussed the current state of cooperation and prospects for their further expansion in various areas of mutual interest.
