On April 30, 2018, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov had a meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General and head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Department Vladimir Voronkov who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the High-Level Meeting "Towards a Comprehensive Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia".
During the negotiations, the sides discussed cooperation in the implementation of the third phase of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia. Also during the meeting, the previous two phases of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy were assessed and their successful implementation was noted.
In addition, the sides noted the importance of further pooling of multilateral efforts in countering the threat of terrorism, extremism and creating stability and security in the world. In this regard, the Turkmen side noted that it supports the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in full and supports the efforts of the world community to create effective international mechanisms for countering terrorism.
