On May 25, 2018, bilateral consultations on regional issues, in particular concerning the EU and the Middle East, at the level of the heads of the relevant departments of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Romania had been held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
During the consultations, delegations of the two countries discussed in detail such issues as the relationship of Turkmenistan with the European Union, in the context of Romania's upcoming chairmanship in the Council of the European Union in 2019. Also, the sides exchanged views on the processes taking place in the Middle East region.
In addition, the Turkmen side acquainted the Romanian side with the international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan regarding Afghanistan and the large-scale infrastructural projects carried out by our country in the region.
As part of the visit's program, the Turkmen delegation was received by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Dan Nekulaesku.
